MIDWEST MUSIC MAKERS - NEWS

March 5th, 2010

And the the 365 Impact Award for Music 2010 goes tooooooo.........................................................................................

Thanks folks! We certainly didn't come into the Midwest Music Maker idea with winning awards for ourselves in mind. But it definitely is nice to be appreciated by friends and peers. It’s been the appreciation that Denny and I have, of all of the many, many creative people who have made up the content of Midwest Music Makers over the years, that is truly why it all happens.

Thanks to the artists who make it happen, and the lovers who make it all worthwhile!

Thanks to Bryce Parks, Mike Ironside and everyone connected with 365 and a long list of others who support live music.

With MidwestMusicMakers I believe Denny and I have done our part to sustain local and regional musical arts.

Our new MidwestMusicMakes.com will continue to support the creative efforts of hundreds and thousands of open minded individuals within our city and region.

365 have had the foresight in print and on the web, to work with our city's fine mayor and council, to trumpet the work of some of the areas many Sustainable businesses and causes.

There are many more great ideas out there. We ask everyone pay attention to what each of these invested and passionate people has to offer.

Impact can not happen, if great ideas fall on deaf ears.

I encourage everyone to continue to search for individuals and groups aimed towards the real sustainable network, to help bring together and create new ideas that will truly steer us in the right direction as a society of sustainability in every phase of life.

“Sustainable” has become a catchphrase, somewhat overused at times. And often misused by definition I'm sure.
Among the definitions, one word stuck out. Endure. Ask yourself: will the efforts I support, endure and support the future for all mankind in a positive manner. Or am I consistently and selfishly just looking out for me and me only? You won't find the word ME, in any definition of “sustainable.”

Over the years I have had the pleasure to come to know and work closely with a great number of you as friends and/or business acquaintances. I look forward to continuing those relationships with those of you whose mission is to make our community better and more self sufficient.

A new and improved MidwestMusicMakers.com is in the making. Until then, continue to enjoy the content within.

Denny, Deano and I along with an incredible and wonderful group of passionate friends and fellow media are only just beginning to sound the horn for what is real, right here in our beautiful little part of the planet.

Thank You!

Hey everybody. Denny Garcia here. And I want to thank you all for listening to the Midwest Music Makers program that has aired every week for the last eleven years, without repeating a show.. It was old time radio and times they're still a-changin'...We are gonna keep the whole she-bang going on the internet here and we will have more time to expand on ideas that we've always wanted to do. It's a passion that perpetuates itself, and the possibities are endless...It's a chance to expand and elaborate on an already good idea..All the different kinds of music is what makes our world go round... I'll keep chatting away Denny style and keep in touch.. this is a new way to carry on a vision...To all the musicians out there ...keep it rolling... Right now I'm lookin.for more gigs and wooden instruments to fix, and firewood and to make it thru this long winter...anyhoo..Garcialater...

For the past 11 years I have had the great pleasure of working with my friend Denny Garcia on the Midwest Music Makers weekly radio program. In that time I figure we created some 572+ hours of original programming.  And each week was truly an original experience. Never once did we say AHHHHH, let's just run the same thing we did this week 2, or even 10 years ago.

A fresh idea was created (not always under the freshest of conditions) each week, so that those who tuned in for something non-ordinary by commercial standards, could fill their ears with the music of real musicians.

These artists are your friends and neighbors; the rock star at the corner bar; the festival band that should be a household name worldwide; the coffehouse singer/songwriter; husband and wife duos; steaming Blues pickers; Bluegrass pickers; college bands; hippy bands; Irish bands; ethnic bands of many backgrounds; exceptional people from all walks of life; way too many to name individually at this moment. But, I think you get the message.
Certainly the many, many people who tuned in each week not only got the message, but spread that message to the equally open minded folks who share the wide space that is Midwest Music Maker country. And in that time. I believe with all my heart, mind and soul, that we (Denny, myself, the vast array of spotlighted talent, and all of you who've shared with others, your love of real homespun music), did a great cultural service to all whose minds are open enough to handle this much musical & cultural diversity.

As of 02/15/10. Denny and I were informed by the management of the local station that aired Midwest Music Makers, that our work and services were no longer needed. Thereby rendering "our" show without a home.
So most folks would find it pretty easy to say. What a great run. Guess it's time to pack it in.
Well we ain't most folks!!!!!!!!!

So instead of packing it in. Welcome to MidwestMusicMakers.com. A website that will be dedicated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to all  Midwest Music Makers.

Multi-media is going to allow us a world of opportunity.  Into the future.....................
